Top Trends for Wedding Guest Dressing

June 12, 2017

There is no doubt that wedding season is upon us. Traditionally June and September are the peak months for getting married. Nowadays, weddings run the gamut from formal and traditional affairs to casual and relaxed gatherings. There are also a plethora of choices when planning a wedding including: venues, themes, traditions, cultural considerations and of course dress codes. Recently at the DivaGirl Toronto Summer Fashions & Cocktails Brunch I shared the latest trends and styles to wear as a guest at a wedding.

When choosing an outfit, there are plenty of choices available that will suit various tastes, preferences, body shapes and budget. Here are some of the top trends for this season:

Blush Tones:

When it comes to blush tones, there is no ‘one size fits all’. The actual hue and tone will depend on your skin tone and whether you have warm, neutral or cool undertones. Colours within this category can range from cool pink tones to warm peachy tones. The sleek ruffled Elizabeth and James, above the knee dress (pictured below), is a very versatile dress and can be accessorized in many wasy to suit your style and personality.

Florals:

Floral prints have gotten an update. The current bouquets include bold blooms and tropical colour palettes. The floor length Diane von Furstenburg dress below would be perfect for a destination wedding or garden party theme.

Lace:

Traditional lace is being reinvented. Brands such as Self Portrait have elevated lace to an architectural level in their daring designs. This once demure fabric is also being reimagined in bold hues such as the Dress the Population berry coloured hue below.

Sparkle:

Of course, no wedding season would be complete without some sparkle! Sequins and shimmering beads are flying off the racks! The added bonus is that these beautiful confections, such as the Dress the Population stunner below, can do double duty come New Year’s Eve!

It was an honour to attend the DivaGirl brunch hosted by Caryn Parchment, the manager of DivaGirl in Toronto (pictured below). DivaGirl is a lifestyle community based on six pillars: fashion, beauty, fitness, nutrition, entertainment and entrepreneurship. Members are invited to participate in events and programs based on these pillars including social networking events, fashion shows, financial management seminars and online courses.
