Toronto Women's Fashion Week SS18 Spotlight on Stephan Caras
Once again, the dynamic father and son design duo Stephan and Kyriako Caras took our breath away at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 (TW FW SS18). The CARAS, Stephan Caras Spring/Summer 2018 runway show continued the design legacy that the fashion house is known for by showcasing designs with dramatic lines, trailing lengths, exquisite fabrics and textures that were both feminine and sensual.
“For Spring/Summer 2018, we showcase a beautiful palette of pastels that emphasize opulence. Sleek shapes achieve a balance between elegance and drama.” said co-designer Kyriako Caras.
Whereas the Fall/Winter 2017 (FW17) collection featured voluminous dresses and gowns that had an architectural inspired look, the SS18 collection had a softer airiness to it. Models almost floated down the runway like angels about to take flight on chiffon wings graced with fluttering floral appliqués, feathers and opulent embroidery.
A prevalent theme amongst the collections at TW FW SS18 was, as Stephan Caras articulated it, “...an ode to the strength of confident women.” Interestingly, each designer offered a unique interpretation of this idea. The CARAS SS18 vision certainly showed that a woman can be soft yet strong.
The finale featured both designers taking to the stage for a bow. Kyriako Caras also brought his lovely daughters dressed in miniature inspired versions of the SS18 collection. Could they be the supermodels of tomorrow?
