Toronto Women's Fashion Week SS18 Spotlight on Zoff
Michael Zoffranieri, the design genius behind the Zoff brand is certainly a bright new star to watch. Zoffranieri recently presented his Spring/Summer 2018 (SS18) collection at the second bi-annual Toronto Women’s Fashion Week. His collection themed “Finding the Fire Within” definitely lit a fire on the Toronto fashion scene.
The recent Ryerson graduate and winner of the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) New Labels prize, presented a collection that consisted of elegant, sophisticated and well tailored pieces that belie his youth. When asked how he would describe the woman who wears Zoff, he said “She doesn’t need permission to wear whatever she wants.” His goal is to provide for her sartorial needs with finely tailored pieces that add sparkle and romance.
Exquisitely crafted gowns of chiffon, tulle, satin and lace, embellished with feathers, embroidery and sequins had an ethereal quality to them. Sleek satin cigarette trousers were paired with a bell sleeve jackets (seen above), billowing taffeta kimono style toppers and sequined blouses. The crowning glory was a lipstick red voluminous gown worn by Sudanese model Aluad Anei (pictured at end). The gown featured a corset style top and under skirt adorned with feathers, beads and sequins and topped off with a confection of light-as-air tulle. The same dress was featured at the Canada 150 Runway show later in the week.
What’s next for Zoffranieri? Plans for expansion are definitely in his future. He is keen to expand the brand’s retail presence across Canada, including Montreal and an upcoming bridal show in Vancouver in November.
