“Moto psycho” says it all...the statement on the back of designer Xian Wang’s leather jacket summed up his menswear runway collection at TOM FW18. The laisser-aller attitude (loosely defined as absence of restraint or unconstrained freedom) of the Xian brand came through loud and clear in this collection.
From street style cool fur jackets and faux fur vests, leather jackets in unconventional textures and colours to moto-style jackets and bombers in ombre and graphic prints, the show was a visual feast.
Completing the vibe, models were outfitted in graffiti laden jeans and skull t-shirts, leather pants and aviators, and donned various head gear including architecturally inspired top hats and Malahai hats crafted by Montreal based designer Nikita Mukhanov.
Born in Harbin, a northern city marked by overlapping Russian and Chinese influence, Xian Wang pursued his creative passion for design at Lasalle College in Montreal, Canada and subsequently founded his label. From concept to consumer, every piece from the designer’s collection is designed locally in Montreal with special attention to detail and quality. The XIAN individual confidently takes daring risks with fashion choices and is not afraid to stand out from the crowd.
This is the second presentation for this young Montreal based designer at TOM*...I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Xian Wang.
