I was whisked away on a glorious journey from a sunlit garden up to the starlit heavens during the Stephan Caras runway show presented at TW FW18. The tone of the collection gradually became darker and edgier as the show progressed.
In signature Caras style, the collection epitomized femininity, glamour and sensuality. Featuring luxurious silk taffeta, light as air lace scattered with floral appliqués and flowing organza ruffles, the use of luxurious textures, sophisticated lines and exquisite detailing were a visual feast for the lucky guests who were able to attend the packed-to-capacity show.
Black lace dresses and bodysuits were accented with flowing organza ruffles in dark floral undertones. Light as air dresses in shades of pink, green and black glided down the runway as if floating on air.
As the journey continued, the colours, textures and tone of the runway became darker and bolder. Opulent dresses in brocades and silk taffeta combined with lace in rich reds, blues and black. The styles seemed to be reminiscent of Spanish flamenco costumes and Indian lehengas and one memorable piece harkend back to a Chinese emporer style robe.
As we approached our final destination in the far reaches of the cosmos, the gowns become more dramatic and elaborate. The showcase finale gown featured a deep v neckline and full organza tiered ruffled skirt in various shades of purple.
Once again the design duo of Stephan and Kyriako Caras delighted and inspired the audience with a collection for strong, confident women who enjoy mixing elegance with a touch of drama.
