Corporate Style Re-interpreted at the Toronto Corporate Fashion Show

December 3, 2018

Have you had those days when you open your closet and can’t decide what to wear? Not because you don’t have any clothes, but because your day’s activities mean that you need a look that is versatile. It may be an after work networking event or cocktails with friends. The dress code in the workplace has also evolved and allows us to be more expressive and creative while maintaining a level of professionalism.

These were the sartorial questions that were the inspiration for the Toronto Corporate Fashion Show (#TOCorpShow), the brainchild of Fatima Syed (below right), CEO of FATMO Media. The event was produced in collaboration with Rashi Bindra (below left) of Pearls & Sequence and corporate sponsor Deloitte Canada’s canWIN program, an initiative that promotes the success of women, diverse groups and minorities at Deloitte.

Ms. Syed and Ms. Bindra brought their complementary talents together to deliver a well-executed show at the exclusive Bisha Hotel Toronto. Fatima’s media, PR and communications background melded beautifully with Rashi’s event management and styling experience. The guests at the sold-out event included business professionals, entrepreneurs, fashionistas and media.

The show featured a roster of impressive Canadian design talent. In addition to a fresh take on suiting, ensembles highlighted other options for today’s working professional. Models included both pro models and ‘real people’ models from all walks of life.

Ross Mayer presented both women’s and men’s lines. The women’s line, Ross Mayer, showcased sophisticated and polished attire that perfectly balanced confidence and femininity. Rashi Bindra, pictured above, was also outfitted in a Ross Mayer design.

The Kara Louise Collection delivered a new and fresh take on women’s suiting. Colours ranged from a soft violet hue to bold cobalt and red.

New comer Jonah Jay impressed with a collection of vegan leather pieces that were office appropriate yet versatile for after hours and weekend wear (model in first photo also wearing Jonah Jay).

Fresh Fashion Library, a rental service that provides a sustainable style solution showed pieces from their collection including dresses, suits (such as the one worn by Fatima Syed) and separates. Their online offerings also include occasion wear and designer handbags at a fraction of the cost of ownership.

Thomas Henry Made turned out elegant and sharp dressed models in bespoke two and three piece suits that played with pattern, texture and colour.

Last but not least, Mayer Man closed the show with an array of outfits that were cool yet serious at the same time. Ross Mayer's (designer pictured in last photo below) menswear line is inspired by high street style that blur the boundaries between casual and chic.

What’s next for these two self-described ‘Boss Babes’?
